Performing Arts School

April 2022 to June 2022

The focus is cantered on the iambic meter in the English language. Working with Year 10s students in Portsmouth, the project explored Shakespeare's influence in modern day RAP.

​

The project anchored in the English Literature curriculum, concentrating on Macbeth and a selection of poems.

​

The participants (Students) worked with our team of Rappers and Poets to create their own pieces of work exploring topics of violence, misogyny, racism and identity-equlity.

​

August 2022 to September 2022

Project with Year 7 students on human rights, race exploring themes of          self-worth entitlement and culture.

​

Open discussions leading to pieces of work artistic work relating to the above theses discussed.

A days project on creative writing with Year 10 students, facilitating their work on:

  • Making a documentary film on Veganism

  • Create a parade against homophobia

  • Write and produce a film against deforestation

  • Create posters and social media films looking at positive behaviour (not discriminatory)

  • A RAP about how we need to talk more honestly about how we feel

  • A short film on knife crime in Portsmouth

May 2022

Working with local refugee artists including local Portsmouth artists, this project focused on creating a concert to commemorate the Queens 75th Jubilee in celebration of the Commonwealth.

November 2022

This project we worked on was around designing and running a Creative Impact project, from identifying issues that students care about.

  • Story-boarding, scripting in group planning, discussion & preparation.

  • Art sessions

  • Rehearsal, script/copy-writing  and composition (film and music sessions)

  • Student consultation, change design & planning.

COMMUNITY INCLUSION GRANT
DANCING THROUGH RAIN OF FIRE

January to March 2023

This project was in partnership with Portsmouth city council, we worked with a local hip-hop dance group and a Iranian girl (Local refugee), to create an expressive dance piece to highlight the issues Iranian women are going though.
